Highland Icons: The Macallan & Clynelish
Scotch Whisky Tasting in Ottawa: Sunday, March 1, 2026
Join us at Deacon Brodies on Elgin Street in downtown Ottawa for one of our ongoing Scotch whisky tastings in Ottawa, featuring two legendary Highland distilleries: The Macallan and Clynelish.
Hosted by David Sharp, this curated tasting explores the contrast between rich sherry oak maturation and Clynelish’s signature coastal wax character — including a rare natural cask strength release.
Sunday, March 1, 2026
4:00PM – 6:00PM
$89.50 per person (taxes included)
Includes four 1oz pours, a small snack plate, and paired chocolates.
Seating is limited.
The Lineup:
The Macallan 12 Year Old – Double Cask
Matured in American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks. Expect notes of honey, citrus peel, soft spice, and gentle oak. Elegant, balanced, and approachable.
The Macallan 12 Year Old – Sherry Oak
Aged exclusively in European oak sherry casks from Jerez. Rich dried fruits, ginger, warm baking spice, and deep oak influence.
Clynelish 14 Year Old
The classic coastal Highland expression. Waxy texture, bright citrus, light honey, and subtle maritime minerality.
Clynelish 18 Year Old – Waxen Sun: Special Release (Natural Cask Strength)
A powerful and layered dram. Concentrated orchard fruit, coastal salinity, signature waxiness, and bold oak intensity at natural cask strength.
What to Expect:
This guided tasting with David Sharp will explore the character, history, and production styles behind these iconic Highland distilleries.
You’ll taste four distinct expressions side by side, discovering how maturation, age, and regional influence shape flavour, texture, and complexity in single malt Scotch whisky.
Whether you’re a longtime collector or simply whisky-curious, this is an opportunity to slow down, compare thoughtfully, and enjoy great drams in good company.
